Paranormal Reports and Hauntings Associated with the Screaming Well in Hutchinson, Kansas:

The Screaming Well that is said to be located in Hutchinson, Kansas is not the only “Screaming Well” in the country. There is also a Screaming Well in King County, near Seattle Washington. At both Screaming Wells, locals insist that one can hear the disembodied sounds of voices crying out from the well. People have reported that in at the Screaming Well in Hutchinson, Kansas, a white hand will grab interested parties if they get too close to the well. Locals claim that a little girl and/or a little boy fell into the well many years ago and died. There is also danger of the outer walls of the Screaming Well in Hutchinson collapsing, so getting too close is not recommended. At the Screaming Well in Seattle, people claim that the disembodied voices from the well will follow you home. Neither well in Kansas or in Washington is easy to find.

Also of interest is the fact that the Screaming Well is not the only haunted well in Kansas. Interestingly, Kansas has more than one, while Nebraska and Colorado, for example have exactly zero haunted wells that are "well" known. In Hiawatha, there is a house, known as the Piano House, that is purportedly haunted because a pregnant woman fell into a nearby well to her death. In Meade, Kansas, there is a very old tale of a cowboy falling into a well known as "Jacob's Well".
