Salt Lake City is home to about 200,000 residents. It is the capital and most populated city in Utah.
Salt Lake City was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and some of his Mormon followers. They irrigated and cultivated the arid valley. Salt Lake City remains the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, though less than half of the population of Salt Lake City proper are Mormon today.
Salt Lake City was originally known as “Great Salt Lake City” due to its proximity to the Great Salt Lake. In 1868, the name was changed to omit “Great” and the city became known as Salt Lake City.

Area 51 Dance Club Haunting:
The women’s restroom at the Area 51 Dance Club in Salt Lake City is said to be haunted by a woman who overdosed on cocaine. A young girl has also been blamed for paranormal activities in the restroom. A particular stall door opens on its own, without explanation and despite being “fixed” many times. Some sober visitors report feeling nauseated or lightheaded when they go into the restroom.
Employees report that a male presence wanders around on the dance floor at Area 51. This ghost is said to move tables and glasses. His ghostly presence is usually noted by staff after closing time.
