Austin is located in the central region of Texas. It is the capital of the Lone Star State. Austin is located in Travis County and is the fourth largest city in Texas with a population of about 780,000 residents. It is the fifteenth largest city in the United States.
A variety of indian tribes first inhabited the region that is now Austin, Texas including the Tonkawa, Apaches, and Comanches.
Austin’s first settlers arrived in the 1830′s. The original settlers to the area named their village “Waterloo”. The city was later renamed after Stephen F. Austin, the “father of Texas”. Austin is known as the “Live Music Capital of the World”.
Ghosts and Hauntings at the Bedicheck Middle School in Austin, Texas:
The ghost of “Billy” haunts the theater at Bedicheck Middle School in Austin, Texas. Billy, interestingly was cast as the Phantom in The Phantom of th e Opera. Unfortunately, Billy fell off the catwalk to his death. According to student lore, Billy was accidentally hung by a piece of rope that was dangling from the catwalk.
Students report feeling the sensation of being pushed while on the catwalk. They also blame Billy whenever they forget their lines in a play.
