Wisconsin Rapids is located in central Wisconsin. It is the county seat of Wood County, Wisconsin. The population of Wisconsin Rapids was approximately 19,000.

The Wisconsin Rapids area was known to the American Indians as “Ahdawahgam” meaning “Two-sided Rapids”. Europeans began settling this area in the 1830′s but the city has only been known by its name since 1920. Prior to that time, the town was divided by the Wisconsin River with the west side incorporated as Centralia and the east side as Grand Rapids, Wisconsin.
