Charleston, West Virginia

Charleston is the largest city and the capital of West Virginia. Charleston has a population of about 60,000 residents.

Charleston is located at the confluence of the Elk and Kanawha Rivers in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Charleston is the County Seat of Kanawha County.

Fort Lee, the first permanent settlement in Charleston, was built in 1788. The Fort Lee structure once occupied the area located at approximately Brooks Street and Kanawha Boulevard.

Daniel Boone was a member of the Kanawha County Assembly in 1791. Apparently, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates and walked all the way from Charleston, West Virginia to Richmond, Virginia.

The Capitol High School Theater:

The Capitol High School Theater was built in 1989 after the consolidation of the Stonewall Jackson High School with Charleston High School.

Capitol High School is located in a rural setting, but it is considered to be an inner-city school because most of its students come from an inner-city environment. It is a magnet school for the performing arts.

In 2007, Capitol High was one of six pilot schools that got to put on a production of The Phantom of the Opera. Rodgers and Hammersteing Theatericals was doing the pilot to see how an amateur production of The Phantom of the Opera might be done.

Ghosts and the Paranormal at the Capitol High School Theater:

Students and staff at Capitol High School have reported hearing disembodied footsteps leading up to the stage. Sometimes, the lights will dim, even though no one is in the sound booth and the area is locked up.

Students and staff who stay late at the Capitol High School Theater have regularly reported feeling uneasy, and as though they are not alone, even when they are alone.
