Cry Baby Bridge
The Calcasieu River runs south of Mittie and this is presumably the location of Cry Baby Bridge and the setting for the story told about the location. Mittie is located at the junction of Dave Smith Road and Highway 26 near Oakdale and Kinder, Louisiana.

Mittie locals claim that the reason why Cry Baby Bridge is haunted is because years ago, a woman let her baby float around in the creek in a basket as she washed her clothes. One day, the baby drifted down the river, never to be found again. The apparition of the baby’s mother is said to revisit the creek every ten days to search for the baby.
