La Veta is a small town of about 1,000 residents in Huerfano County, Colorado.

Fort Francisco Information:

Colonel John Francisco and Judge Henry Daigre formed and partnership and purchased land under the Vigil-St. Vrain Land Grant in 1868. The land that they purchased was located along a Native American trail that was used by the Ute tribe. Francisco and Daigre built Francisco Fort in 1862 to supply Denver mining camps with products for farming and ranching. The fort is like the only adobe fort left in the state of Colorado.

Fort Francisco Museum Hall Mansion Haunting:

People have reported two ghosts at this location: The Floating Lady Ghost and the Candle Lady Ghost.

Staff have reported capturing orbs in photos and experiencing some strange electrical phenomena, including lights flickering on and off without explanation. They have also noted cold spots, particularly in the kitchen area at Fort Francisco in La Veta, Colorado.
