Anderson is located in the central part of the state in Madison County. It is a city of about 56,000 residents.

Paranormal activity at the school purportedly takes place primarily in the auditorium (which used to be the gym). The ghost of a young boy has been observed running laps around the room. The sound of bouncing basketballs has also been reported. According to local lore, the boy died at the school very abruptly while playing basketball.
