Salt Lake City was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and his Mormon disciples. They farmed the arid valley. Salt Lake City remains the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, less than half of the population of Salt Lake City proper are Mormon today.

Salt Lake City is home to about 200,000 residents. It is the capital and most populated city in Utah.

Salt Lake Masonic Temple Information:

The Salt Lake Masonic Temple is the Masonic headquarters for Utah. The building represents the best example of Egyptian Revival Architecture in Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Masonic Temple was completed in 1927. The building is located in the South Temple Historic District of Salt Lake City, Utah. The building consists of several Lodge rooms, greater and lesser Halls, numerous lounges, a banquet hall, an auditorium, a library, and administrative offices.

The building remains in continual use since it opened in 1927 and is maintained and operated by the Salt Lake Masonic Temple Association.

The primary function of the building is the performance of the various rituals of the several Masonic organizations in Salt Lake City. It provides a convenient location for administrative functions of the Utah Masonic family. The building is available for use by non-Masonic entities as well.

Doors that were locked up for the night, open mysteriously. The sound of doors slamming when all the doors are shut and locked down for the night is a common occurrence. Lights turn on and off without explanation.

The apparition of a young girl has been reported down a hallway at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple.
