University of Iowa- Slater Hall

University of Iowa- Slater Hall

Location:

Located on South Grand Ave.

History:

According to student lore, a man jumped from the ninth floor to his death. His ghost is blamed for the disturbances that are said to occur. However, it doesn’t quite make sense that a man who committed suicide would walk about yielding an axe. Nonetheless, this is the lore. Historical research has not verified these claims.

Slater Hall is more modern architecturally than Currier Hall (also reported as haunted). Slater Hall is located across from a hospital. Indeed, it appears to be located in the medical center of the campus.

Haunting:

Disembodied footsteps, screams, and apparitions of a man carrying an axe have been reported.
