This is a private home that is not open for public showings. The Buena Vista Plantation is said to have been used as a Civil War hospital. Some visitors have reported seeing apparitions in the house. The ghosts and apparitions are dressed in Civil War garb.
Slave houses on the property are often colder than the ambient temperatures outside. It isn’t unusual to find water covering the floors of the slave houses even when there hasn’t been rain in days.

The Southdown Plantation, now a museum, was a sugar plantation in the 19th century. It has been restored and now visitors can see the manor house, worker’s cabin, and slave quarters, along with a gift shop and gallery.
According to local lore, a past plantation owner raped female slaves and murdered other slaves on the property. Visitors have reported seeing apparitions in the windows of the manor house and slaves quarters even during the daytime hours.

The Parlange, a large French colonial plantation house, was built around 1750. Years ago, the Parlange Plantation was surrounded on all sides by a large, formal garden. During the Civil War, when Union headquarters was located at the plantation, the garden was destroyed. Today, visitors have reported seeing the apparition of a young girl in a white dress in the oak trees on the property.
