Juan Jose Dominguez received a gift of 75,000 acres land in 1784. In 1826, Juan’s nephew, Manuel, built the Dominguez Rancho Adobe as a home for his new bride.
The Rancho ecompassed what is now Compton, Gardena, Carson, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes Estates, Lomita, Rolling Hills Estate, Rancho Palos Verdes. The Rancho was the site of the Battle of Rancho Dominguez in 1846 during the U.S.-Mexican War.
Ghosts and the Paranormal at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe in Carson, California:
A guest who stayed at the Dominguez Ranch house was apparently beaten to death or hanged and his spirit purportedly still lingers here.
The apparition of a man in old-fashioned clothing has been observed in the area of Alameda and Wilmington Boulevard in Carson, California. Some locals believe that this man was beaten to death. Others say he was hanged and robbed in the area during the time when the Dominguez Rancho Adobe was used as a stage coach stop.
Near the Dominguez Ranch house, visitors have reported seeing orbs as small flashes of light.
