Virginia City, Nevada
Virginia City is located in Storey County, Nevada in the west central part of the state. It is a small, unicorporated community and the county seat of Storey County.
Virginia City is one of the oldest established communities in the state of Nevada. Legends say that Virginia was named after a man named James Finney who was nicknamed “Old Virginy”. Finney discovered the Comstock Lode. After the discovery of the Comstock Lode in 1859, Virginia City appeared virtually overnight. Finney had fled Virginia after killing a man.

The Gold Hill Hotel in Virginia City is less than one hour away from the Reno-Tahoe area. It is situated in a quiet setting and features 19 rooms and lodges.
The Gold Hill Hotel is located just behind the Yellow Jacket Mine where miners were killed in 1873 due to a fire that broke out in the Yellow Jacket Mine. Many of the men who were killed were left buried at the bottom of the mine shafts just behind the Gold Hill Hotel.
Ghosts and the Paranormal at the Gold Hill Hotel in Storey, Nevada:
Guests at the Gold Hill Hotel have reported seeing apparitions particularly on the second floor in the hallway and in the bathroom.
Doors open and close on their own, without explanation at the Gold Hill Hotel. Disembodied footsteps and disembodied voices have also been reported in some of the rooms here. One group of paranormal investigators (the Ghost Trackers Assocation) experienced one of the beds shaking in the middle of the night.
