Austin is located in the central region of Texas. It is the capital of the Lone Star State. Austin is located in Travis County and is the fourth largest city in Texas with a population of about 780,000 residents. It is the fifteenth largest city in the United States.

A variety of indian tribes first inhabited the region that is now Austin, Texas including the Tonkawa, Apaches, and Comanches.

Austin’s first settlers arrived in the 1830’s. The original settlers to the area named their village “Waterloo”. The city was later renamed after Stephen F. Austin, the “father of Texas”. Austin is known as the “Live Music Capital of the World”.
