McPherson Middle School

History and Demographics for McPherson, Kansas:

McPherson is located in central Kansas, in McPherson County. It is a community of approximately 13,000 people, named after James Birdseye McPherson, a Union general.

McPherson was founded in in 1872 by twelve members of the McPherson Town Company. By 1888, the city was situated at the junction of four railroad crossings, a good location for a new town.

In 1994, Terry Nichols, Timothy McVey’s accomplice, purchased a ton of ammonium nitrate from the Mid-Kansas Coop to use in the Oklahoma City bombing.
