Vicksburg, Mississippi

Vicksburg is located near the Mississippi/Louisiana border. It is the only city located in Warren County, Mississippi, along the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers. The population is about 26,500 residents.

During the Battle of Vicksburg (May 18 through July 4, 1863) a field hospital was set up at McRaven. A number of the house’s inhabitants also died in or near the house.

Ghosts and the Paranormal at the McRaven Tour Home in Vicksburg, Mississippi:

Staff and visitors report that the ghost of John H. Bobb, who died violently in a quarrel with Federal soldeirs right outside the home, and Mary Elizabeth Howard are two of the house’s previous inhabitants who are said to haunt the home. Her wedding shawl is said to emit heat sometimes and/or jump out at people’s hands when they try to touch it.

The ghost of William Murray, one of the previous owners of the McRaven Tour Home has been seen on the staircase. His daughters Ella and Anna have also been seen inside and outside of the home.
