Annapolis is the capital and the county seat of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. There are approximately 37,000 residents living in Annapolis.

Annapolis is located on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River. It is 26 miles south of Baltimore and 29 miles east of Washington, D.C.

Annapolis served as the temporary capital of the United States from 1783-1784.

The Middleton Tavern is located on the historic city dock in downtown Annapolis, Maryland.

The Middleton Tavern is a 250 year-old building that has probably been occupied since about 1740. It functioned as an “Inn for Seafaring Men” in its early history.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin all sat in this building following the American Revolution.

The Free Masons had meetings at one time at the Middleton Tavern.

In 1983, Middleton Tavern was remodeled and expanded.

Ghosts and the Paranormal at the Middleton Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland:

The Middleton Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland is host to some poltergeist-type activities. Apparently, plates and glasses move on their own fairly regularly at this location. Indeed, plates will even fly across the room.

People have reported seeing a man in old-style clothing from a different era standing near the harbor, staring out into the distance. The man was there, and then very suddenly, he was gone.

Middleton Tavern staff also report that lanterns that are mounted on the wall are often turned upside down.

Shadow people are seen out of the corners of one’s eyes frequently at the Middleton Tavern.
