Mount Marty College
History of Mount Marty College:
Mount Marty College was founded in 1936. It is a Catholic Benedictine institute of higher learning. It is named in memory of Martin Marty, a Benedictine missionary to the Indians who came to the Dakota territory in 1876. He was the territory’s first Catholic Bishop and he invited the Benedictine Sisters to the area to establish a religious community in Yankton.
Ghosts and Hauntings at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota:
Students report that showers and water fountains turn on and off by themselves as well as disembodied footsteps and shadow people. At Corbey Dorm, students report feelings of uneasiness in certain dormitories. In Whitby Hall, people have reported a wide variety of ghost sightings.
