Beckley, West Virginia
Beckley is a city in southern West Virginia in Raleigh County. The city is populated by about 17,000 residents.
Old Beckley Junior High School Information:
On the property where the Old Beckley Junior High School (now a building on the Mountain State University Campus), there was once a residence used as a Union Hospital during the Civil War during the occupation of Beckley in 1861. The building was constructed in 1918.
Ghosts and the Paranormal at Beckley Junior High School in Beckley, West Virginia:
A female ghost named “Hannah” purportedly haunts the halls of Beckley Junior High School. This woman was supposedly a ghost in the Union Hospital that once stood at this location. She was, according to legend, killed by some slaves being held inside the building. The apparition of this woman as well as disembodied footsteps and disembodied moaning sounds have been reported.
Students and faculty at the old Beckley Junior High School building have reported seeing the ghost of a young woman moving through closed doors. Books have been mysteriously knocked off shelves and also mysteriously restacked in the old library that was once in the basement of this building. Lockers doors reportedly slam when no one is in the hallways near the lockers.
