The Parlange, a large French colonial plantation house, was built around 1750. Years ago, the Parlange Plantation was surrounded on all sides by a large, formal garden. During the Civil War, when Union headquarters was located at the plantation, the garden was destroyed. Today, visitors have reported seeing the apparition of a young girl in a white dress in the oak trees on the property.

The Parlange Plantation is located at 8211 False River Road/Highway 1 at New Roads, LA. It is open by appointment only. Call 225-638-8410 for more information.
