Ashland is located in northern Wisconsin located in Ashland and Bayfield Counties. It is a port on Lake Superior, near the head of Chequamegon Bay. The population of Ashland is approximately 9,000.

Disembodied footsteps have often been reported in the costume area at Rinehart Theater in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Actors and actresses have described seeing doors opening and closing on their own, inexplicably, particularly during performances. One source said that an actor observed a toilet flushing on its own, without explanation.
An apparition has been reported in the stage area.
One group of actors reported that one day, when they arrived at the Rinehart Theater, they found three lit candles on the stage arranged in a triangle around a rose, which was placed in the middle.
