Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow, better known as Bonnie and Clyde were outlaws and robbers who emerged out of Texas during the Great Depression. They were part of a gang of outlaws involved in about a dozen bank robberies, small stores, and gas stations. They killed 9 police officers and several civilians.
Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed in Bienville Parish, Louisiana on a rural road and killed on May 23, 1934. The ambush took place during the daytime. They were shot by four Texas police officers and two Louisiana officers.
There is a monument at the death site. Exit I-20 and head south through Gibsland, LA. Then, make a right on a small side street heading west. Continue for a few miles. The monument is located on the north side of the street.
