Ghosts and the Paranormal at Sweet Hollow Road in Huntington, New York:

According to Huntington locals, it is possible from time to time to see the apparition of three bodies hanging from the Northern State overpass bridge along Sweet Hollow Road. Supposedly, three boys committed suicide by hanging themselves off the bridge, but, according to the Long Island Paranormal Investigators, there is no record of this event actually happening.

Another legend, not supported by facts, associated with the Northern State overpass bridge along Sweet Hollow Road has to do with a bus load of children. Locals say that a bus full of kids was driving along the Northern State overpass bridge in snowy conditions. The bus lost control and went over the side of the bridge. Today, they say if you drive under the bridge and put your car in neutral, the car will start to move by itself, pushed by the spirits of the children who died in the bus crash.

A White Lady or, Lady in White is said to walk along Sweet Hollow Road. Stories differ as to why the White Lady walks along the road, but one story says that a woman named “Mary” was pushed out of a moving car by her boyfriend. Another car that was following hit her and killed her. Today, folks claim to see the White Lady along Sweet Hollow Road and as they pass her, she jumps out at them.

A second story regarding the White Lady claims that she is Mary from “Mary’s Grave” which is located in the graveyard along Sweet Hollow Road.

Another urban legend concerning Sweet Hollow Road has to do with a police officer who was killed, according to legend (not historical fact). A ghostly police officer pulls cars over along Sweet Hollow Road and then, lets the cars go with only a warning. Then, as the police officer turns to go back to his car, the back of his head gets blown out from a shotgun.

Finally, one last urban legend has to do with ghostly kids and a day camp along Sweet Hollow Road. The day camp supposedly was a place where a number of kids were abused and some of them killed. This day camp was said to be functioning sometime in the 1930’s. Huntington locals have reported seeing the apparitions of kids in 1930’s clothing walking along Sweet Hollow Road at night. Of course, as you get close to them, they suddenly disappear.

The Long Island Paranormal Investigators reported taking some unusual photos near the Northern State overpass bridge.
