Durham, New Hampshire
Durham is located in Strafford County, New Hampshire in the southern region of the state. It has a population of about 14,500 residents. Durham is located beside Great Bay at the mouth of the Oyster River.
Durham was originally known as Oyster River Plantation. It was settled in 1635 as part of Dover.
During King William’s War in 1694, the English settlement was attacked in a raid on Oyster River. In this raid, about 45 inhabitants were killed, 49 taken captive and a number of dwellings and 5 garrisons were burned to the ground.

The Three Chimney’s Inn is located at 17 Newmarket Road in Durham, New Hampshire.
The Three Chimney’s Inn ffrost Sawyer Tavern is a 1649 Homestead that became listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It is the oldest house in Durham and one of the oldest buildings in the whole state of New Hampshire.
The Three Chimney’s Inn survived the Indian raid that occurred in 1694 that destroyed many other buildings in the town. In 1699, the building was equipped with “Indian Shutters” for protection. The Three Chimney’s Inn was once used as a storage place for munitions that were taken from British Blockhouses in Portsmouth and hidden for use by the American troops.

A variety of strange electronic phenomena have been reported at the Three Chimney’s Inn in Durham, New Hampshire.
Staff have reported feeling someone playing with their hair when there is no incarnate being around. They have also reported the sounds of disembodied footsteps, objects moved without explanation, and apparitions of a ghost they call “Hannah”. Other entities are believed to haunt the Three Chimney’s Inn as well.
