Vicksburg is located near the Mississippi/Louisiana border. It is the only city located in Warren County, Mississippi, along the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers. The population is about 26,500 residents.

The Battle of Vicksburg occurred during the Civil War from May 18 through July 4, 1863. The National Military Park is located in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Delta, Louisiana. The park contains reconstructed forts and trenches to portray the 47-day siege that was ended when the city was surrendered. Victory at the Battle of Vicksburg gave the United States control of the Mississippi River.
